God is calling you to step out in faith and be the hands and feet of Jesus right where you are.
Like so many Christians today, you might be struggling with what God is calling you to do. How do you take your faith to the next level? For years you have served in church, attended services, and been part of Bible studies but you probably feel the Holy Spirit prompting you to go further. Being part of a church plant core team is some of the most hands on ministry you can do as a lay person.
What does it look like to be part of the core team?
Core team members make a commitment to give, serve, and attend. This means they tithe a portion of their income to financially support the church each month. It means they volunteer to serve in practical ways like setting up for events, inviting neighbors and friends, praying for the church, and other jobs that need to be done to make the church run. It means they are present at meetings and other events and give about 4-6 hours of their time each week to the church plant. This basically describes the life of a committed member of any church but at a church plant the work looks different and many of the structures aren't established yet. Currently our core team meets on Wednesday nights in our pastor's home for a 90 minute Bible study and prayer meeting. We have a lot of fun at core team meeting! We share food, make new friends, and draw closer to Jesus.
Who are you looking for?
You don't have to have a seminary degree to help plant a church. In fact, churches need very few people with seminary degrees. What they do need are average men and women who love Jesus and are willing to be committed. We are looking for able bodied people who align with our mission, vision, and values. They need to be teachable and they need to be a team player. You might be a single young woman or a 70 year old widower or a couple with teenagers. God wants to use you to advance the Gospel in our area! You do not need to be Anglican and if you are part of our church for a season but ultimately decide that Anglicanism isn't for you, that's ok too! We are focused on making disciples not Anglicans.
How do I start this journey?
Right now, stop and say a prayer to God asking him what his will for you is. He might be calling you to be part of this amazing work! The next step is to get in touch with Pastor Seth and set up an in person or zoom meeting so you can ask questions and he can get to know you. We also encourage you to watch our vision casting presentation. Even if you decide not to be on the core team you can support our work by joining our prayer team or giving team.
